Henry Wemyss Fielden papers, 1915-1958.

The collection consists of correspondence between Ella May Thornton, Georgia State Librarian, and Mrs. Winifred Feilden and others regarding the life and military career of Henry Wemyss Feilden for a possible publication. Included in the material is a typescript copy of A. Trevor- Battye's work on Feilden entitled A Noble Englishman... which recounts Feilden's participation with the 42nd Highlanders, the Punjab Regiment in China, the British Polar Expedition 'Alert' and 'Discovery', both Boar Wars and the Imperial Yeomanry. Chapter 2 recounts Fielden's service in the army of the Confederate States of American, serving under Generals G. T. Beauregard and Samuel Jones, mostly in Charleston, South Carolina.
